Fun and Games
The Pocasset children's games taught them many skills they would need to survive in their tribe. Children were taught to run swiftly, and play games of skill and chance. All children were taught to swim at a young age. One game they would play was a "toss and catch" game. A ring made of vine was tied to a string that was tied to a rope, the child would then try to catch the ring on the stick. A game the adults would play was a gambling game called "hubbub." They would have 5 playing pieces in a bowl, one side was black the other was white. They would then bet on how many pieces would land black side up.
