Gathering Food
The Wampanoag had four main ways of obtaining food. They would obtain meat by hunting animals with their bows and arrows or fishing. They would gather plants by foraging in the forest or by growing it themselves. The men and older boys would hunt and fish while the women and girls would forage, harvest and gather shellfish at the seashore. When the men got back the women would clean and take care of the meat the men brought back.
